For most of the years I was at Broughton, Rich, Phil Davis,Keith Fairweather, Pat Wooten and I rode to school together. What a group and what a ride! Rich was usually late and there was always a list of excuses he had on file to explain why.

I could not have asked for a better friend than Rich. He was funny, smart, and always appreciated a good laugh. I was fortunate enough to have shared many laughs with Rich.

One of my favrotie stories about Rich happened when a bunch of us were tailgating at a NC State football game. An undercover officer had been walking around, confiscating everyone's "stuff" and Rich managed to grab the filled evidence bag while the cop wasn't looking. Needless to say, we spent the rest of the night emptying the bag!Only Rich would have done that.

I miss Rich and the time I got to spend with him was cut too short. He made a difference in the lives of so many of us. When I received the news, I flew home to go to the service. There I saw so many people that I had not seen in maybe 10 years. It is unfortunate that it took a tragic event to bring us all back together. Rich will always represent a time in my life that was so much fun. I laughed more because of him and I am grateful for the time I had.

Rich was a great friend and an even better person. I will always remember him with the big smile he always had on his face, even when we would be floating downstream in his stalled Suzuki Sidekick while 4-wheeling at Lake Raleigh. We loved to go there and I could never believe how that Suzuki could do a lot of the things I dared Rich to do. Awesome memories!! I will miss him very, very much.

I think about Rich a lot. He was never in a bad mood or had a bad thing to say about anyone. I never met anyone that new him that had a bad thing to say about him. He died doing something he was very passionate about and that's how he lived his life. I respect that! He'll never die as long as he is in our memories.

The thing I remember the most about Rich was his incredible smile when I would see him. I think he thought I was really FUNNY! :) I wish so badly that he was going to be with us at the reunion. He was loved by so many of his peers and family. WE MISS RICH!

Rich was the best friend I ever had. I miss him so much. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about him.
He was loved by so many of us. Days without Rich sometimes seem not real. I know I am a better person from knowing him.
I miss ya brother..
